Mechanical Engineering

The field of mechanical engineering encompasses a diverse range of specialties, including dynamics, vibrations and noise, energy systems, automotive engineering design, thermal energy transport, fluid transport, experimental stress analysis, solid mechanics, manufacturing processes and materials, tribology, numerical techniques, optical inspection, mechanics of metal forming, and fasteners and bolted joints. At the graduate level, the Department of Mechanical Engineering focuses on advancing knowledge and expertise in these critical areas.

Our Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering program is designed to prepare students for advanced careers in industry and to provide a solid foundation for further graduate study. Admission is primarily open to students with a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. However, candidates with degrees in other fields of engineering, science or mathematics may also be considered, though remedial coursework may be required.

The program offers five distinct options, allowing students to tailor their studies to their specific interests and career goals:

  • Solid and Structural Mechanics
  • Energy, Fluid, and Thermal Systems
  • Manufacturing Processes
  • Automotive Engineering
  • General Mechanical Engineering

This flexibility ensures that students can focus on the areas most relevant to their career aspirations and industry needs, providing a comprehensive and focused education in mechanical engineering.
